Writing High Scoring Essays

Topic 5

Conclusion of an Essay

A conclusion is the final section that wraps up your arguments, synthesizes your main points, and leaves the reader with a clear understanding of why your topic matters. It brings your essay to a natural close without introducing new, un-discussed evidence.

Parts of the conclusion include:

  1. Restate the Thesis Statement: Briefly rephrase your main argument or the core answer to the question. Recap the main points without repeating the main body in detail.
  2. Reaffirm the Importance / Implications: Highlight why the issue matters (in Pakistan and Current Affairs, tell why it matters for Pakistan’s security, stability, or Development.)
  3. Forward-Looking Recommendations / Call to Action: End with practical, realistic suggestions or a vision for the future. Make it optimistic, yet grounded (avoid vague idealism)
  4. Strong Closing Statement: End with a powerful, memorable line – often a balanced or hopeful note, sometimes with reference to national resilience or Islamic/constitutional values.

Example of the Conclusion - Topic: How should Pakistan combat fifth-generation warfare?

In conclusion, Fifth Generation Warfare poses an existential challenge to Pakistan’s sovereignty and social fabric by exploiting information asymmetry and internal divisions without traditional military confrontation. [Restate the Thesis / Summarise Key Points] Through a multi-pronged strategy – encompassing robust cybersecurity frameworks, nationwide media literacy campaigns, institutional reforms, strategic public diplomacy, and fostering national unity – Pakistan can effectively neutralise these threats and transform vulnerabilities into strengths. [Reaffirm the Importance / Implications] Ultimately, a resilient, informed, and cohesive society, guided by the principles of national security enshrined in the Constitution and the vision of Quaid-e-Azam, will be the strongest defence against hybrid aggression in the 21st century. [Forward-Looking Recommendation / Call to Action] Only through proactive, whole-of-nation efforts can Pakistan emerge not just as a survivor but as a model of resistance in the age of fifth-generation warfare. [Strong Closing Statement]
